Pledged Donations vs. Spontaneous Donations

What is a Pledge?

A pledge is a promise to donate a set amount toward St. Andrew’s day-to-day operations over the coming year.

  • Why it matters: Pledges give our Session and Finance Committee a clear picture of expected funding, allowing them to responsibly budget for critical expenses like staff salaries, insurance, utilities, facility maintenance, committee work, and local charities. Simply put, your pledges directly shape what St. Andrew’s can accomplish next year.
  • When to pledge: Members and friends are invited to pledge during our annual Stewardship Campaign each fall. Pledges must be received by November 15th to be included in our 2027 budget. 
  • Pledges never automatically renew. If you pledged for 2026, please submit a new pledge for 2027 so we can accurately plan ahead.


What is a Spontaneous Donation?

A spontaneous donation is a one-time or recurring gift made without an advance pledge commitment.

  • Spontaneous gifts can be designated for a specific ministry or special event.
  • Undesignated spontaneous gifts go directly into our General Fund to support ongoing operations.



How Pledging Works

  • Flexible Payment Schedule: You choose how and when to fulfill your pledge. You can make a single lump-sum gift or pay in multiple partial installments (weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly) throughout 2027.
  • Managing Your Payments: As soon as January 1, 2027, you can begin making pledged donations toward your 2027 pledge. We accept cash, check, bill pay checks mailed from your bank to the church, and shares of stock or other securities. You can also make recurring or one-time donations through our donation buttons: PayPal and Realm (blue "donate" button). Fees incurred by the church for online donations are as follows:

Realm ACH (bank account transfer): $1.00% + 45₵ per transaction (lowest fees)

PayPal: $1.99% + 49₵ per transaction

Realm Credit/Debit: $2.80% +45₵ per transaction

Realm via *American Express: $3.50% + 45₵ per transaction

  • Privacy & Confidentiality: All pledge details are strictly private. Only our Church Administrator has access to donor names and pledged amounts.
  • Life Happens: We understand that financial circumstances can change unexpectedly. If you ever need to adjust or pause your pledge, simply contact the Church Administrator.
